| 1. What is the weight of 1000 sheets of paper ? |
[Sheet width (metres) x Sheet length (metres)] x g/m2
Example: SRA2 130gsm = 0.45 x 0.64 x 130 = 37.44 kg per 1000 sheets

| 2. How many sheets of paper in a tonne (1,000kgs) ? |
Divide 1,000kgs by the weight per 1000 sheets (in kgs) and multiply by 1000
Example: Using example in (1) above, then: 1000kgs/37.44kg per 1000 sheets equals 26.709. This answer equates to 26.709 lots of 1000 sheets of SRA2 130gsm, so multiply this by 1,000 and you get 26,709 sheets of SRA2 130gsm in one tonne of this material.

| 3. If £23.47 is the price per 1000 sheets of SRA2 130gsm, what is the price per tonne ? | page top |
Divide the price per 1000 sheets by the weight per 1000 sheets (in kgs) and multiply by 1000
Example: [£23.47 per 1000 sheets/37.44kg per 1000 sheets] x 1000 = £707.00 per tonne when rounded up to two decimal places.

| 4. If a tonne of SRA2 80gsm costs £650.00, what is the price per 1000 sheets ? |
The weight per 1000 sheets is 0.45 x 0.64 x 80gsm (i.e. 23.04kg), so now simply multiply this by the price per kilo (i.e. the price per tonne divided by 1000)
Example: [£650.00/1000] x 23.04kg per 1000 sheets = £14.98 per 1000 sheets rounded up to two decimal places.

| 5. What is the weight of a pallet of 12,500 sheets of 520x720mm 150gsm ? | page top |
The weight per 1000 sheets is 0.52 x 0.72 x 150gsm (i.e. 56.16kg), so now simply multiply this by the number of lots of 1000 sheets
Example: 56.16kgs per 1000 sheets x 12.5 (lots of 1000 sheets) = 702kgs

| 6. If a pulpboard is 380 microns thick, how tall is a single stack of 3,400 sheets ? |
There are 1000 microns in a millimetre and 1000 millimetres in a metre, so each sheet is 0.38 millimetres thick. Multiply this by 3,400 sheets and you get 1,292 millimetres (i.e. 1.292 metres).

| 7. How heavy is a reel of 70gsm paper that is 470mm in width and 9,200 metres in length ? |
The total area of the paper on the reel is the width multiplied by the length (in the same units). So 0.47 metres multiplied by 9,200 metres equals 4,324 square metres. We know that the paper weighs 70 grammes per square metre so the weight of the reel is 302,680 grammes (i.e. 302.68 kilos).
